[column] Commercialreview September

The first commercial of this month is the PLUS commercial, designed by Wunderman Thompson. This commercial is entitled “Good food is good for the neighborhood” and aims to convey that PLUS provides good food, for the neighborhood and for each other. This involvement is central to the commercial. We see the boy Finn, who plays a very important role in good food for the neighborhood. Singer-songwriter Rob Dekay finishes the commercial with his sensitive song, written especially for this commercial.

The commercial radiates a lot of positivity, which certainly doesn't hurt these days. The fact that this is appreciated is also reflected in the responses, of which this one gives a very clear summary: "beautiful advertising, which makes it clear that you have to think about each other, be there for each other and certainly for your fellow man who, for whatever reason, has a "different" position in society."

A point for improvement that we see recurring a number of times is that some viewers did not immediately understand the meaning and therefore the message, and therefore had some doubts about it. Yet the general tenor is very positive and the sympathetic element remains, partly due to the music.

The second commercial is from Donald Duck, part of DPG Media Group, designed in collaboration with Bruut.

The purpose of this TV commercial is to introduce the whole of the Netherlands to the cheerful adventures in Duckstad in the new Donald Duck app. The pay-off 'Donald Duck anytime, anywhere' emphasizes that you can be Donald Duck regardless of time, location or device thanks to the introduction of the new app containing more than 1,000 stories. Donald Duck's cheerfulness is of course seen and appreciated by the reviewers. Many viewers naturally know the feeling of reading Donald Duck and have positive associations with it. That the commercial conveys this is evident from, among other things, this reaction: “A very nice and summery commercial. Funny, with the children and teenage girl. Cheerful, seeing this commercial makes you want to read Donald Duck, well conceived and put together.”

Many of the viewers have not yet taken action: looking up the app, they indicate when answering the questions. In a few weeks it will be possible to measure whether the commercial actually led to the download of the app.

Kruidvat also stood out again. With every commercial, viewers seem to appreciate Lies' role more, which is something Kruidvat and DDB Unlimited can definitely commend.

We all know it, after that summer holiday we need to get going again. Back to work, the kids back to school, back to the gym. This can sometimes cause some start-up problems...

With this commercial, Kruidvat wants to show that they completely understand this and that they therefore want to go back to it together with everyone during the “We are going to have ADVANTAGE weeks again with the best care and beauty supplies for a Kruidvat price!”.

The fact that this commercial also stands out positively is well summarized in this response: "What a nice commercial again. I continue to be surprised by the Kruidvat commercials. Every time they are surprising, fun and recognizable for the customer."

Trekplek cannot be missed this month, with the recently launched commercial “For you” designed by Eigen Fabrikaat. In this commercial, Trekpleister wants to convey that it offers suitable and affordable Health & Beauty solutions, with enthusiasm and attention to its customers. Giving and receiving attention makes you feel better.

"Trekplast is the affordable neighborhood drugstore, with attention to its customers. Professional employees are ready to think along and provide advice in the field of personal care, beauty & health."

The commercial is the second commercial for Trekpleister, after the previous series from earlier this year. We see that most viewers appreciate the commercial and that it radiates a strong identity, especially that “Trekplast has something for everyone.”

We close this month with the commercial from First Choice, part of SuperUnie. The commercial was designed by GUC Agency and gives a nod to the well-known major cola giants in the market. The purpose of this commercial is to convey that First Choice Cola is the cheapest A-brand. “Why would you pay more? First Choice is available in the flavors Regular, Zero and Light. Surprisingly delicious for next to nothing!.” The call is therefore to just try it and taste that quality does not have to be expensive at all. Many viewers seem to have become curious about this offer and the taste of this cola and the commercial seems to have achieved its intended goal. This is evident, among other things, from this response: “Beautifully made advertising, clearly shows that there is also another brand of Coca Cola on the market for a reasonable price.” Let's hope you actually like the taste!
